fartyPoP Monster

fartyPoP Monster Sketch

Quick sketch of another monster. I applied my standard Photoshop treatment (Convert Rough Doodles to Edgy Stock Art) to this image, that’s why it no longer looks like a sketchy biro drawing.

Here’s a good quote for you…
The Essence of drawing is the line exploring space

Lovable Big Foot “Snowie”

snowie

Strange the things that pop out of your brain and on to your sketchbook. I think this guy is a very mellow yeti that lives in a snow cave somewhere in Northern Canada. The line work is shabby, but at least it’s sketch and I can fix it up in the future, should I feel the need.

I just finished reading “The Writer’s Guide to Crafting Stories for Children” by Nancy Lamb, and it was very inspirational. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking of writing a kids’ book. I also spent WAY too long looking at Chris Riddell’s art online today, he is an amazing illustrator and his detailed drawings have so much character. Sophia has his book Mr Underbed and loves it. We read it every night before she goes to sleep and often in the day too. Check out Chris Riddell’s website here.
